Check out our latest success story.

Basic Campaign Setup

GEO: Russia
Ad format: Telegram ads
CPC: $0.052
Targeting options: No OS and language limitations
Daily Budget: $310
Creatives: 8 icons + texts
Optimization: black- and whitelists

This Telegram ads case study started as an experiment by our iGaming agency, as we’re always in search of profitable bundles that will convert. Our team has done research and discovered this innovative format —Telegram ads in mini apps, like bots or clickers.

The traffic source seemed attractive for several main reasons:

  1. First of all, it’s the freshness and absence of ad blindness that we always seek, as an agency constantly searching for profitable formats.
  2. The second factor was that such Telegram ads don’t have limitations in Gambling promotion in comparison to the official format, plus the price seemed reasonable, starting from $0.015 per click for push-style ads.

As mentioned before, being an agency, we’re always in search of working combinations that will bring us profit. We haven’t yet worked with that type of traffic before, so we’ve decided to give it a try to see its potential for us in this case study on Telegram ads.

For a test, we worked with a Gambling client in Russia and decided to test it for about a month to gain the full picture of traffic quality and profit possibilities. Spoiler — we loved it.

Solution

We started with a daily budget of $100 and 8 pre-made creatives (we’ll discuss them later) with a CPC goal of $0.032.

In terms of targeting, everything was quite basic — no OS or language limitations for our GEO. First, we launched a campaign with zero optimization, but didn’t manage to get the desired cost per lead, so we asked a manager to help us with black- and whitelists for this exact campaign.

After a short test, we decided to launch a new campaign solely on a whitelist by our manager, increase the bid to $0.05 and budget to $200 in order to get more leads, and it paid off!

We got a 42% win rate, which means our bid was a “winning” one, so we got enough traffic from our established bid. CTR also increased, it was 6.7%, meaning our campaign got to the target audience we wanted.

At the end of the test, our budget per day was $300, as we wanted to get even more leads and got expected results in terms of CPL pricing, and the overall registration amount exceeded our expectations.

Creatives

We got quite high CTRs of 6%, as mentioned above, so we’d love to share the creative approaches we used to get into the proper iGaming audience in the Telegram ads.

  1. Direct message imitation
  2. Exact bonus sum
  3. Logo usage
  4. Brand name mention
  5. Emojis and jackpot pics

Results

Our team was really satisfied with the Telegram ads case study for several reasons.

Despite the fact that our CPC rose from $0.03 to $0.05 and the budget grew, we got more leads at the desired price. Finally, the price per lead was $3.1, and their overall quantity reached 2968 registrations.

With the overall spend of $9300 during the 30-day test, we got 2.6 million impressions and 177.7k clicks and reached our goal in terms of regs, which is a really good result.
